Junior Coaches Wanted

Cambridge City HC are looking to recruit enthusiastic, inspiring, and skilled coaches to join our youth coaching team, either as an age group lead coach or as a supporting coach.

Cambridge City HC has a thriving youth section, with a history of success within East Anglia and nationally. We run age group coaching for players from u6 through to u18, entering teams into national, area and local competitions for performance and developing players, for both outdoor and indoor hockey.

As a club, we hold the nationally-recognized, cross-sport, ClubMark status, and host the Cambridge Talent Academy which supports talent development across the region. We are working towards England Hockey Talent Centre accreditation. Both our men’s and women’s 1s play in the National League, and our 13 senior sides offer a strong pathway for our junior members into senior hockey, which we continue to develop.

Working closely with our Youth Section Head Coach, the successful candidate will be responsible for helping to plan, oversee and deliver our season-long coaching programme. This role could potentially be combined with additional roles within the club (either junior or senior).

Role: Age group Lead or Supporting Coach

Hours: This would be dependent on role. Up to U14, players train on Sunday mornings during the hockey season, and our U16 Boys and Girls train on Wednesday evenings from 6.30 to 8 pm. U12s and U14s have an additional mid-week session on Wednesdays. It is expected as a minimum that for the age group they coach, they would attend the main age-group training session (this is on Sunday for age groups up to U14, Wednesday for U16) and team fixtures on Sundays.

Coaching Rate:

  • To be discussed, dependent on role, knowledge, experience and linked to coaching qualifications.

Responsibilities:

  • Culture and environment - To help support and develop a positive playing environment, to allow all young players to achieve their desired potential, and foster a lifelong love and commitment to the sport.
  • Training – Dependant on role, to help plan and deliver a season-long coaching programme appropriate to the age group(s) they are coaching.
  • Fixtures – To attend team fixtures (home and away). Junior competitive fixtures are on Sundays.

Requirements:

  • EH Sessional Coach Award / Level 1 qualified (or equivalent), or willingness to work towards one ASAP.
  • Valid Safeguarding & Protecting Children certificate (UK Coaching).
  • DBS enhanced check (must be completed before appointment can be confirmed).
  • Valid First Aid qualification (if applying for an age group lead role).
  • Right to live and work in the UK
