M5 vs March Town 2

6 goals from 6 scorers in a dominant win for City

At last, this season the mens 5s turn a dominant performance into a dominant scoreline.

The first 10 minutes of the game may have been rather cagey but nerves were settled when Niall Graham passed smartly past the March keeper to open the account for the day. Another soon after was slotted in by Alex Herriot as the forwards used their skills to carve openings in the D creating chances at will. If it wasn't for an excellent March keeper the game could have been over before it began.

The plan for the day was to start converting more short corners but the drills before the game started were rather wasted as the sandy March pitch caused nightmares for the injectors. However, when one made it to the top of the D Maxim Vreeswijk showed you don't need clever routines when you can drag-flick it into the roof of the net. 3-0 as the halftime whistle blew.

So far this season despite a 100% record on points City had yet to win a second half. Here was a chance to put that to bed and work on our goal difference deficit to the 6s. The March Goalkeeper though was having a stormer and was keeping March in the game. He even got a helping hand from Strats who managed to wear a shot on the shoulder to keep the ball out.

It looked like it may not be his day when Oscar Bray deflected his shot into the goal. Pretty sure it didn't need that touch Oscar, but love it when a CB gets on the scoresheet. Strats got his goal next though. Another well-worked goal from a front three the March defense simply couldn't handle. Especially the supremely talented Tom Goldsmith who was tying March in knots all game and had already hit the post twice. It would have taken something fantastic to beat Maxim's drag flick for goal of the game but then Tom once again drove into the D, skillfully past three defenders and lifted the ball into the net. Fantastic.

Man of the match went to Tom Goldsmith for an outstanding performance and a worldy of a goal. Special mention to Niall Graham whose simple running lines are a coach's dream and a defender's nightmare and to Harry Chatwin whose 5s debut may have been rather boring in goal but showed great maturity to keep his concentration all game.

DOD went to Rich Turpin who showed the scary eyes as he dispensed his own brand of justice to a shoulder barging March player with a tackle that would have been illegal in rugby. Earning himself a green card in the process

6-0 nil takes the 5s to the top of the table back above the 6s where they belong!
