Cambridge City Women’s 1s vs Barnes Women’s 1s
Saturday 26th November 2022
Vitality Women’s Division 1 South
Umpires: Tom Cox & Tony Rollins; Umpire Assessor: Simon Gillett; Match Official: Yvonne McCartney
Welcome to Wilberforce Road Sports Ground, home of Cambridge City Hockey Club.
The last few years have been difficult for many of us, but at CCHC, we have been focusing on helping people get back onto the pitch. That has included organising a number of summer leagues with other local clubs, developing our Youth Section (now well over 450 members between the ages of 4 and 18) and promoting Back-to-Hockey, Walking Hockey and Flyerz. It is fantastic to see so many people playing hockey again!
Having picked up their first points of the season over the last two weeks, City will be hoping to build on their momentum as they take on Barnes this week at Wilberforce Road. The visitors have been the talk of the league this season having been promoted as East Conference champions, they sit second on goal difference and remain unbeaten so far this campaign. City will be aiming to inflict Barnes’ first defeat and will take confidence from the facts that the visitors haven’t scored more than 1 goal per match in their last 3 games and seem to have struggled against the teams in the bottom third of the table. Whatever the result, it should be a competitive and exciting match.
The end of the year brings a change of personnel to the City bench. Manager Chris Waite is standing down, so we thank him for his service to the 1s and wish him the best for the future. Thankfully he is not moving far and we expect to see him on the touchline on most weeks supporting the team and watching them pick up more points!
We hope that you enjoy your time with us and have a safe journey home.
Best wishes,
Mark Sanderson
Fixtures Secretary
